       BHARAT KAPUR-
A boy with a Dream to run.

He may lack an arm, but paraplegic athlete Bharat Kapur's talent is hardly affected because of that. Kapur, along with 28 other athletes, is the only sportsman from Delhi to have made it to the core-probables training camp for the Commonwealth Games 2010 in the para-games category.Besides
love for sprint race he loves swimming race.

Kapur was selected for the camp after clocking 11.05 seconds at the Commonwealth Games trials on August 24, conducted at Kengeri, Bangalore, by the Sports Authority of India, where 15 athletes vied for the four slots in 100 m. While his favorite event is the 400 m, Kapur is looking forward to be part of the 100-m team. Only three athletes are selected for each event.

The son of daily-wage labourers, Kapur has been living away from his parents in a shared room in Mayur Vihar Phase-II, borrowing money from his coach and fellow athletes for daily expenses. "Making it to the Commonwealth team will raise my chances for a better future," he says.

Broadleaf Health & Education Alliance

Broadleaf is focused on piloting their keystone project, CHHIP (Comprehensive Health and Hygiene Improvement Program). CHHIP is a health education and improvement program, with three interrelated components, for implementation in primary schools in rural areas of the Eastern Himalayas. It is designed so that participating students and schools not only gain essential knowledge pertaining to their personal health and hygiene, but will benefit from a comprehensive program to improve the overall learning environment, provide early intervention for health issues, and equip children with critical life-skills, enabling them to take control of their own personal development and improve the health of their communities as agents of change.

Michael and Denna are currently based in Darjeeling, West Bengal, India to implement Broadleaf’s initial phase of CHHIP. This year the program will be based in seven primary schools in three village clusters including Lingten, Singrimtam, and Marybong.

                AILA-2009

Lives at Halt in the Northern

Eastern,Darjeeling

On 26th of may,2009.Chimney, a historical place located on the top hill of Kurseong Division was one among the many affected by the havoc of nature’s fury during cyclone AILA. The place which was once considered by the British Colonial raj as a perfect resting place when one traveled on a horse is today in a state of anguish and disrepair. People who had been primarily surviving on farming and cattle are now left with just hope and prayer.
